Materials in Thermoforming
Resins and Blends
Our primary materials are HDPE, TPO and TPR resins. We have 5 large extruders, all with co-extrusion capability. Our main colors are Black, Grey, Tan, but we can process any color required. Our manufacturing capabilities for extrusion include thicknesses of 0.080” to 0.500”.
Our material comes into the plant and all resins are tested by QA before being transferred into our silos. Resin blends are adjusted daily depending on the inventory in the plant.
With over 30 years experience in thermoformed products, Penda has the process knowledge to optimize performance of leading-edge materials. You have targeted requirements and costs, and we have the expertise to customize material solutions-including the ability to create multiple layers of materials.
Penda has a record of proven success helping customers reduce material and tooling costs through material conversion-converting parts from metal, fiberglass and other materials to thermoformed plastic.
Among the advantages Penda can deliver:
- Reduced part weight
- Enhanced structural integrity
- Easier, less expensive tooling
- Recyclable and recycled materials
- Numerous secondary finishing requirements eliminated
Combining engineering skills with an extensive in-house tooling facility, Penda’s rapid prototyping capabilities are second to none.
The key advantage: you can review fit and function to ensure your material, process and part are just right before making an investment in hard tooling.
The primary focus of the IATF 16949 standard is the development of a Quality Management System that provides for continual improvement, emphasizing defect prevention and the reduction of variation and waste in the supply chain. The standard, combine with applicable Customer-Specific Requirements (CSR’s), define the QMS requirements for automotive production, service and/or accessory parts. Our Portage, WI and Lerma, Mexico facilities are certified to the IATF 16949:2016 standard.
ISO 14001 Environmental Management System (EMS) is a systematic framework to manage the immediate and long term environmental impacts of an organization’s products, services and processes. All of Penda’s facilities are certified to ISO 14001 requirements.
